Humpty Dumpty
What might save Humpty Dumpty from cracking?  That was the question posed to the students.  Each child came up with one or more ideas and then we conducted an experiment to test our theories. Students found that big, soft items worked well.

Students completed a Humpty Dumpty craft trying to put him back together again.

Students connected the dots in ABC order to make Humpty Dumpty.

Hickory Dickory Dock
As a class we built a clock on the floor practicing ordering numbers from 1-12.

Fine Motor
Students practiced fine motor skills as they made pictures by putting pegs into a styrofoam board.

Lost Sheep Math Game
The children played a game that involved rolling a die, adding up the dots and finding the corresponding number on a sheep on a worksheet.  Students finished when they dotted or "found" all of their sheep.

Itsy Bitsy Spider Game
Students played a game in which they raced to have their spider reach the top of the water spout first.  The children used a spinner adding or subtracting one each time.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Hey Diddle Diddle
Students created their own stomp rockets with a cow on the end and tested them out to see if they could send their cow over the moon (a ball).

Jack Be Nimble
Students made candle patterns out of unifix cubes.

Each of the children took turns jumping over a candle as we recited the poem using their name.

Little Miss Muffet
We used pictures to order the story of Little Miss Muffet into parts, Beginning, Middle and End.

The students acted out the poem with one student being Miss Muffet and the other a spider.

We talked about the meaning of the word frightened.  Then students sorted pictures based on whether they were frightening or not frightening.

Once I Caught a Fish Alive

After reciting the nursery rhyme "Once I Caught a Fish Alive" students went fishing and as a class ordered the fish from 1-10.
